Volunteer Opportunities

Block Captains

We need a few more block captains. Contact Donna Stecker for more information.

Neighborhood Watch

Neighborhood Watch needs volunteers to cruise around Kings Park during the work week during the day. This is the time when many residents are away from their homes and the most likely time for burglaries. King.s Park has had very few burglaries and we want to keep it that way. If interested, call Lou DiLeonardo.

Kings Park Entrance Sign

Jessica Sinkovits handled "letter duty" on the entrance signs for the last year. Thanks Jessica! Jessica will be attending college this fall and we need someone to take over.

Kings Park Elementary School

Kings Park Elementary School needs volunteers to assist with math, reading, or general classroom/office needs. Contact Beth Owens, Volunteer Coordinator (703) 426-2990 or Elise Passentino, Vice Principal (703) 426-7000.

Fairfax Medical Reserve Corps

The Fairfax Medical Reserve Corps is looking for volunteers to staff the Lake Braddock Unit. Over 60% of the need is for non-medical personnel to help in times of emergency. See the Emergency Preparedness Committee wiki page for details.

Current Issues

Neighborhood Expectations

The Neighborhood Expectations statement caused a fury. Three alternatives were proposed and defeated. The Board of Directors endorsed (edited version) was tabled as well. Most opponents to the endorsed version were worried that it was too harsh, made it appear that Kings Park had serious problems and/or contained unneeded posturing. You can read and provide comments on the wiki.

Parliament Pool

The pool is undergoing needed maintenance. Pool work photos are posted on www.parliamentpool.com.

The pool has had 2 San Vito’s Nights so far. We post San Vito Nights on the calendar. This is a tasty way to support our community pool.

Kings Park Entry Signs

On hold until next membership meeting.

Local Sanitary District

Beverly Boschert and Barbara Hopke are looking into the pros and cons of a Local Sanitary District.
