Earn Community Service Hours in Your Own Neighborhood!

If you’re in middle school or high school and looking for a way to earn volunteer service hours for school, why not start right here in Kings Park? You can join the Kings Park Youth Community Service committee and immediately have a positive impact on your resume, not to mention fulfilling community service requirements for the various classes and programs at Lake Braddock (civics, government, National Honor Society, etc.) Our roster has been steadily growing over the last few years, and the more volunteers we have, the more we can help improve our community.

Remember, this is not only a good way to build volunteer hours for school, but it looks great on your college resume, and besides, we have a lot of fun! Some of the activities we’re planning include:

  • Transplanting perennials/other plants to beautify the entrance sign areas and areas on Kings Park Drive (fall)
  • Leaf Raking
  • Kings Park Holiday Party (December). Teens needed to help with arts & crafts stations, kids’ activities, preparation, cleanup, etc.
  • Skating Party
  • Pizza Party
  • Annual Pot Luck Dinner
  • Entrance sign maintenance: weeding and planting flowers (one weekend day in the spring)
  • Fun Day in the Park: carnival for neighborhood younger kids (in Spring)
  • Helping with Kings Park Cleanup Day (one weekend day usually on a Saturday in May)
  • 4th of July

  • Also, the committee is open to teens who live outside the neighborhood as well. If you and a friend (who lives outside Kings Park) want to join together, we’d love to have you!
